Only team in Wilkes history to win national championship...had record of 13-5 in dual meet competition...faced tough regular season opponents in Lehigh, Navy, Syracuse, Army, and East Stroudsburg...won fifth straight MAC title...hosted and appeared in first ever Division III championships...led by national champion John Chakmakas at 134 pounds, 142 pounder Art Trovei, 150 pounder Mike Lee, 2nd place finishers Rick Mahonski, Gene Ashley, Al Scharer, 3rd place finisher Lon Balum, and 5th place finisher Jim Weisenfluh, the Colonels rolled to a 49 point victory.
