The Wilkes University wrestling team posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.261, ranking them 15th nationally, proving they are not only successful on the mat, but define the true meaning of student-athlete.
The Colonels finished second at the Metropolitan Conference Championships and sent two wrestlers to the NCAA Championships. Seniors
Zach Pizarro (Easton, Pa./Easton) and
Frank Heffernan (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) represented Wilkes in Cedar Rapids, Iowa where Pizarro became the newest All-American after finishing 5th at 197.
Williams College posted the top GPA at 3.543, while Ohio Northern was second at 3.484. Wilkes was just behind Roger Williams, which posted a 3.267.
