NOLT, WILSON NAMED FREEDOM CONFERENCE TENNIS PLAYERS OF THE WEEK
 
ANNVILLE, PA – Wilkes University tennis standouts senior Melanie Nolt (Manheim, PA/Manheim Central) and sophomore Steven Wilson (Bronx, NY/JFK) have been named Freedom Conference women's and men's Players of the Week respectively as announced by the conference office Monday afternoon.
 
Nolt, the three-time reigning Freedom Conference Player of the Year, led the Lady Colonels (11-1) to a perfect 3-0 week including Freedom wins over FDU-Florham (7-0) and Arcadia (9-0). She allowed just one game in three singles matches in the No. 1 position for Wilkes taking all three by straight sets. In doubles play, Nolt teamed with Katie Lynn (Berwick, PA/Berwick) at No. 1 to post three victories including an 8-5 decision over Scranton on Sunday.
 
For the season, Nolt carries an 11-2 overall mark going 8-1 in dual match play all from the top position in the Wilkes lineup. Nolt has posted a 54-15 career mark in her three plus years at Wilkes in singles play at No. 1.
 
Wilson was equally as impressive on the men's side leading Wilkes (8-2) to a 2-0 week including Freedom wins over FDU-Florham (6-0) and Arcadia (9-0). The sophomore went 2-0 in singles play from the No. 1 position posting straight set 6-1, 6-1 wins in both of his matches during the week. Wilson paired with Alex Makos (Mansfield, PA/Mansfield) to add two more doubles victories on the week at No. 1.
 
For the season, Wilson boasts a 10-8 overall mark going 5-4 in dual match play.
 
Nolt and the Lady Colonels return to the court tomorrow (Tuesday) with a matchup against cross-town rival King's College at 3:30 p.m. Wilson and the Colonel men travel to Freedom rival Misericordia University Wednesday for a match at 3:30 p.m. in Dallas, Pa.
