SELINSGROVE – Susquehanna took 11 more shots than Wilkes University, which eventually led to a 3-0 win, handing the Colonels their fifth loss of the season.
Rhyan Nelson scored the game winning goal for the Crusaders at the 31 minute mark on a pass from Brandon Eisenhart that broke a scoreless tie. The score would remain 1-0 at the half, but Andrew Cole made it 2-0 at the 58th minute with an assist from Malek Giet.
Bobby Long made it 3-0 for Susquehanna nine minutes later on an unassisted goal that deflected off of a Wilkes defender.
For the Colonels,
Matt Sankey (Kreamer/Midd-West) had three shots, while
Greg Miller (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood),
TJ Brandt (Bloomsburg, PA/Central Columbia) and
Patrick McDonald (Stroudsburg, Pa./Stroudsburg) had one shot each. Wilkes fell to 5-5 with the loss, while the Crusaders moved to 7-3 on the year.
Wilkes will be back in action Saturday when it faces Delaware Valley at 11 a.m. at Ralston Field.
