ST. DAVIDS – The Wilkes University women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 decision to conference foe Eastern University on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, the Lady Colonels see their record fall to 5-8-1 overall and 1-2 in the Freedom Conference, while the Eagles' record improves to 7-5 overall and 3-0 in the conference.
The Eagles would score their first goal of the match just 18 minutes in as Kristine Zeiset took a feed from Jill DiRenzo and beat Wilkes goal keeper Jess Berkey to make the score 1-0.
Eastern would add another goal before halftime as Nicole Grindle took an Allison Inch pass and found the back of the net at the 39:55 mark to make the count 2-0 going into the break.
Zeiset would finish the scoring for the game by getting her second tally on the day off of assists by Lauren Roe and Kara Neef at the 64:19 mark.
For the match, Eastern held a 15-6 advantage in shots as well as a 6-0 edge in corners. Amanda Daveler and Amber Cummins combined for four saves in the shutout win, while Berkey stopped six shots in the losing effort.
Wilkes will return to action on Tuesday when they continue conference action when they play host to DeSales University with a scheduled 4 p.m. kickoff.
