No. 25 Eastern totaled 14 block assists and two solo blocks in a 3-0 (25-9, 25-12, 25-16) win over Wilkes University to improve to 5-0 in league play and 22-1 overall.
The loss was just second in Freedom Conference play for the Lady Colonels, who hit -.025 for the match. While Wilkes was unable to generate much offense, the Eagles tallied 30 kills with just five errors, hitting .347 for the match.
Marissa Harrison (Shavertown, Pa./Lake-Lehman) had 10 of the team's 20 kills on the night, while
Kaitlyn McGurk (Swarthmore, Pa./Ridley),
Katherine Harrington (LaFayette, N.Y./LaFayette Central) and
Julie Page (New Milford, Pa./Blue Ridge) each had three. Eastern's Courtney Reinhold had a match-high 14 kills, while Kara Hildebrand and Nicole Burns had five kills each.
The Lady Colonels will be back in action Saturday when they head to Reading to face Albright at noon before playing Muhlenberg at 2 p.m.
