Box Score
The Wilkes Colonels gave No. 3 Messiah all it could handle as the Falcons scored two second half goals to take a 3-1 win.
Messiah broke the scoreless tie when Geoff Pezon scored at the 20-minute mark giving the Falcons the early lead. Wilkes'
Greg Miller (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood) tied the game at the 35 minute mark with an unassisted goal to close out the scoring in the first half. “We played really hard tonight,” head coach
Phil Wingert said.
Messiah had 11 shots on goal, but the play of goal keeper
TJ Baloga (Wilkes-Barre, Pa./Coughlin) kept the Falcons at bay. “TJ had some amazing saves for us that really kept us in the game,” Wingert said.
Messiah's Derek Black scored back-to-back goals in the second half, the first coming at the 68 minute mark followed by a score at the 88th minute. “In the second half they came in and really put the pressure on us. They had two really great goals that would couldn't have saved,” Wingert said.
The Colonels (1-2) will remain on the road when they travel to Allentown to take on Muhlenberg on Wednesday.
