DOYLESTOWN – The Wilkes University volleyball team bounced back after dropping the first game 25-23 to win the next three to take a 3-1 win over Delaware Valley.
Marissa Harrison (Shavertown/Lake-Lehman),
Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley) and
Julie Page (New Milford, Pa./Blue Ridge) all tallied double-doubles on the night to pace the Lady Colonels. Harrison picked up her 13th double-double of the season with 21 kills and 15 digs, while McGurk had 12 kills to go along with 14 digs. Page finished the match with 10 kills and 12 digs for her fourth double-double of the year.
The Lady Colonels tied the match after winning the second game 25-14 after totaling 14 kills with just three errors and would take the lead for good after winning game three 27-25. Wilkes would close out the match with a 25-20 win to improve to 13-9 overall and 3-2 in Freedom Conference play.
As a team, Wilkes had 59 kills on the night with 20 errors in 167 attacks while picking up 88 digs.
Allison Kelleher (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) added to her school record with a match-high 23 digs, while setter
LeeAnn Searfoss (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) had 48 assists as well as five service aces.
The Lady Colonels tallied a season-high 18 service aces with Harrison and Searfoss leading the way with five each, while McGurk added four.
Amy Estep and Jaki Blood combined for 28 of the team's 49 kills with 14 each, while four of the seven players that saw action had 10-or-more digs on the night.
Wilkes will look to make it four straight this weekend when it hosts Albright and Marywood in a tri-match starting at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Marts Center.
