The Wilkes University women's volleyball team hosted Eastern on Tuesday, and after three games fell to the Eagles in straight sets, 13-25, 10-25 and 8-25.
In the first game Wilkes jumped out to an early lead, but an 8-0 run by the Eagles quickly doused the Lady Colonel's fire, and Eastern cruised to a 25-13 victory. The Eagles were led by Courtney Reinhold with five kills, while Wilkes had eight kills and five errors in the game.
In the second game Eastern never let the Lady Colonels in the game, routing Wilkes 25-10. Reinhold had six kills in the game, while
Marissa Harrison (Shavertown/Lake-Lehman) and
Emily DeBuck (Pine Island, NY/Warwick Valley) has two each for the Lady Colonels.
In the third game Eastern exploded, defeating Wilkes 25-8. The Lady Colonels had eleven errors in the game and only six kills, while the Eagles hit .368 with one error.
In the match Wilkes hit .000 with 19 kills and 19 errors. The Eagles hit .420 with 43 kills and six errors. Harrison led Wilkes with seven kills while
LeeAnn Searfoss (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) had 15 assists and
Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley) had nine digs.
With the loss Wilkes falls to 15-10 (3-3) on the season, and will look to bounce back when they play Scranton on Thursday, Oct. 22. That match will begin at 7 p.m.
