Three second half goals were the difference in the game in Doylestown, Pa. on Sunday, as the Wilkes University men's soccer team rolled to another Freedom Conference victory against Delaware Valley, 3-0.
In the first period each team fired shots on goal, with Wilkes getting off 10 shots before the break, but neither squad found a way to score in the first 45 minutes of play.
In the second period Wilkes broke scoreless tie when he scored his fourth goal of the season on a pass from
Arthur Jankowski (Mountaintop, Pa./Crestwood). In the 67th minute freshman
Joe Brennan (Oakdale, CT/Montville) scored his third goal of the year on a pass from
Greg Miller (Blandon, Pa./Fleetwood), while 19 minutes later Vona scored again, securing the victory 3-0.
Wilkes out-shot the Aggies 21-12 on the day, while goalie
Kaleb Smith (Beavertown, Pa./Medd-West) saved three shots en route to his fourth shut-out of the season.
With the win the Colonels are now 7-8-1 (3-2-1) on the season, and will next face DeSales at Center Valley, Pa. on Saturday, Oct. 31. That game will begin at 2:30 p.m.
