GLASSBORO, N.J. – Rowan scored a pair of goals midway through the first half that proved to be the difference in its 2-0 win over Wilkes University snapping a three-game win streak for the Colonels. The scores were the only shots on goal for either team in the entire game.
Rowan controlled the tempo for the majority of the game, getting off 18 shots, 12 of which came in the first half. The Colonels on the other hand had just three shots taken in the first half and five in the second.
Rowan's Petter Lunde received a pass from the right side from John Loiodice and hit the right corner of the net 11:07 into the game that would eventually be the game-winner. Dan Coviello padded the lead with a pass from Lunde at the 28 minute mark.
Rowan nearly used two different teams as 21 different players played, while the Colonels substituted three players in
Josh Olzinski (Nanticoke/Nanticoke),
Nick Wierman (Middletown, Pa./Middletown) and
Saidu Barrie (Folcroft/Academy Park).
The Colonels will be back in action on Saturday when they head to Purchase, N.Y. for a Freedom Conference matchup with Manhattanville.
