Box Score

The Wilkes University women's basketball team traveled to Frostburg, Md. on Friday to take on Gettysburg at the Frostburg State Tournament. The Lady Colonels were coming off a win against PSU-Hazleton, 80-23, and hoped to take the momentum from that game into the tournament weekend.

The Bullets jumped out to a quick 13-0 lead before Sam Lynam scored the first bucket of the game for Wilkes. Halfway through the first half the Lady Colonels found themselves down 26-9, and the deficit expanded to 27 points at halftime.

Leading the Lady Colonels in the first half was Lindsey Gosse (Allentown, Pa./Allen) who was two for four from the field with four points and nine rebounds. She also had two steals and an assist.

Down 46-19 going into the second half, the Lady Colonels worked to reduce that lead and get back into the game. Unfortunately, Gettysburg would improve on its lead as the half went on, leading 68-29 halfway through the second period. The Lady Colonels would eventually lose by a final score of 83-40.

Wilkes was led by freshman Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) with 13 points and four rebounds, while Gosse ended with six points and 10 boards. The Lady Colonels shot 28% from the field and hit on three of 15 three-pointers.

The Bullets were led by Caitlin Moser with 20 points, while Courtney Fields had 18.

With the loss the Lady Colonels fall to 1-1 on the year, and will play Guilford on Saturday at Frostburg State. That game will begin at 2:00 p.m.
