ST. DAVIDS, Pa. – The Wilkes University volleyball team struggled offensively, garnering 10 kills while committing 20 errors in the semifinal game of the Freedom Conference semifinals. No. 23 Eastern would eventually win the match 3-0 (25-9, 25-10, 25-9) to advance to the conference championship game Saturday.
For the first time all season the Lady Colonels had a negative hitting percentage (-.141) with
Emily DeBuck (Pine Island, NY/Warwick Valley) tallying a team-high three kills while
Marissa Harrison (Shavertown/Lake-Lehman) and
Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley) each had two.
Julie Page (New Milford, Pa./Blue Ridge),
LeeAnn Searfoss (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and
Meaghan Williams (Hamlin/Western Wayne) each had a kill as well.
While Wilkes struggled offensively, Eastern made just 10 errors in 64 total attacks in the win, improving to 29-4 overall.
The Lady Colonels finished the 2009 season with a 16-12 record and advanced to the Freedom Conference Semifinals for the second-straight season.
