The Wilkes wrestling team won all three matches it competed in this weekend at Gettysburg, taking a 18-16 victory over Kutztown as well as a 32-15 win over Plymouth State. The Colonels concluded their tri-match with a 44-9 win over Gettysburg.

The top of the lineup was impressive for the Colonels with Shaun Farnham (Baldwinsville, N.Y./Charles W. Baker), Josh Pauling (Hughesville, Pa./Hughesville) and Anthony Dattolo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) all picking up three victories on the day. Against Kutztown, Farnham picked up a major decision win over Clayton Youtz 8-0, while Pauling defeated Chad Emerick 14-6 for a second-straight major decision win for Wilkes. Dattolo was one point away from tallying a major decision as well after his 10-3 win over John Paukovits.

James Histead, wrestling at 157, gave the Colonels a 14-3 lead over Kutztown with is 6-3 win, but four-straight wins by the Golden Bears gave them a 16-14 lead until Andrew Feldman (Shavertown, Pa./Wyoming Valley West) posted a major decision, 12-4 win over Cory Ruff to secure the victory for Wilkes.

Against Plymouth State, the Colonels won seven of the 10 bouts, including three-straight pins by Pauling, Dattolo and Erik Smith (Danville, Pa./Danville). Pauling's pin came at the 4:39 mark, giving Wilkes a 9-0 advantage before Dattolo pinned Chris Greenwood in 45 seconds. Smith completed the trifecta with a pin in 2:15, giving the Colonels a 21-0 advantage. Frank Heffernan (Slatington, Pa./Northern Lehigh) joined in the winning ways with a 17-2 technical fall win over Dustin Rudy before DJ Brown won his bout 13-7.

In the final match of the day, the Colonels tallied three pins and a technical fall in their decisive 44-9 win over Gettysburg. Farnham picked up a pin at 125 in 2:13 over Santosh Nandabalan, while Pauling defeated Jack Bostrom 18-3 technical fall win giving Wilkes an 11-0 lead. Dattolo registered his second pin of the day, this time over Michael Slabinski in 53 seconds giving the Colonels a commanding 17-0 advantage.

The Colonels would go on to win five more bouts including two by forfeit. The wins improve the Colonels to 15-5-2 and will return home Friday to take on Elizabethtown at 7 p.m. in the Marts Center.
