SELLINSGROVE – For the second-straight day, the Wilkes University volleyball team dropped back-to-back matches, falling to Franklin & Marshall as well as St. Mary's (Md.) in the final day of the Susquehanna Tournament.
In the first match, Franklin & Marshall took a 25-13, 25-20, 26-24 win over the Lady Colonels despite an 11-kill, four error effort by
Marissa Harrison (Shavertown/Lake-Lehman). She picked up her 11th double-double of the season with 11 digs on the day. Defensively,
Allison Kelleher (Sayre, Pa./Athens Area) had a team-high 14 digs.
In the second contest, St. Mary's was able to take a 25-18, 25-16, 26-28, 25-12 win, handing the Lady Colonels their fourth-straight setback.
Kate McGurk (Swarthmore/Ridley), who was named to the all-tournament team, had seven kills with just one error, while Harrison had a team-high 19 kills in 47 attacks.
Wilkes will return to action Wednesday when they take on cross town rival King's College at 7 p.m. in Wilkes-Barre.
