Box Score

In their second game of the Haverford Tournament, the Wilkes women's soccer team let a 1-0 lead slip away in the second half to Arcadia University, losing 2-1 to the Knights on Sunday afternoon.

Wilkes was able to capture a lead in the first period when Julissa Reed (Coal Township, Pa./Shamokin) found Taryn Hallowell (Belvidere, NJ/Belvidere) for the games first goal. The goal was Hallowell's first on the year, and Wilkes was up 1-0 going into the break.

In the second half it was a different story. Seven minutes into the second period Arcadia was able to tie up the match on a goal by Stephanie Welch, her first of the year, with Katie O'Malley accounting for the assist. Thirteen minutes later Rebecka Shafer put the Knights up 2-1 when she scored unassisted and Wilkes was never able to recover.

Wilkes was out-shot in the match 17-10, with Arcadia firing seven shots on goal. Goalkeeping was again shared by Sarah Shelter and Brooke Keister (Penns Creek, Pa./Midd-West), with Shelter saving five shots on the day.

With the loss the Lady Colonels fall to 2-1 on the season. Their next game will be at home when they host Scranton at 4:00 on Wednesday, Sept. 9.
