WILKES-BARRE – The Colonels rattled off 17 shots but couldn't record a score against DeSales on Tuesday night, falling 2-0 on the cold evening.
In the first period each team had several chances to score early, but 30 minutes into the contest it was still knotted at 0-0. DeSales finally broke the silence by scoring on a 20 yard shot in the middle of the field, and took that 1-0 lead into the break. Each team fired 11 shots in the period, but Wilkes couldn't capitalize on its opportunities.
In the second period the Bulldogs added another score that just trickled past goalie
Kaleb Smith (Beavertown, Midd-West), giving them a 2-0 advantage. Wilkes got off more shots in the half, but once again couldn't pierce the DeSales defense, falling 2-0.
Smith had seven saves in the game while Wilkes fell to 5-10 (1-2) on the season.
The Colonels will be back in action this Saturday, Oct. 16 when they head to Madison, N.J. to take on FDU-Florham. That game will begin at 11:00 a.m.
