WILKES-BARRE – Joe Brennan (Oakdale, CT, Montville) scored two goals and Ed Zulkoski (Mountaintop, Crestwood) added one as the Wilkes University men's soccer team downed Delaware Valley on Saturday. With the win the Colonels have now won three in a row.

The Aggies were on the offensive for most of the first half, but a crucial penalty in the 26th minute allowed for Zulkoski to score for the Colonels, converting the penalty kick and grabbing the lead for Wilkes. The Colonels added another goal when Zulkoski centered a pass that was redirected by Michael Turner (Hudson, Coughlin) that Brennan punched into the net, giving Wilkes a 2-0 halftime lead.

Early in the second period Delaware Valley was able to make it a one-score game when they converted off of a penalty just outside the box. Five minutes later Zulkoski found Brennan on the left wing, and the sophomore lobbed a shot over the goalkeepers head for the third score of the game for the Colonels. Wilkes then locked up on defense despite multiple surges by the Aggies.

Brennan had two scores, while Zulkoski had a goal and two assists on the day. Goalie Kaleb Smith (Beavertown, Midd-West) had another excellent game, saving seven shots for the Colonels.

Wilkes will now play a make-up game against PSU-Hazleton on Monday, Oct. 4. That game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
