WILKES-BARRE – Taryn Hallowell (Belvidere, NJ, Belvidere) scored an early goal for Wilkes on Saturday, but Manhattanville rallied to score two of their own, including the game-winner in double overtime.

Hallowell scored less than eight minutes into the game off of a pass from Lyndsay Ellis (Shavertown, Dallas) to give Wilkes an early lead. Each team had more chances to score in the first half, but at the break Wilkes still held its 1-0 lead.

In the second period Manhattanville worked itself back into the game, scoring in the 78th minute. Wilkes couldn't answer before the regulation horn sounded, and for the third time in four games the Lady Colonels were heading to overtime. In the extra periods Wilkes was able to get off three shots to Manhattanville's one, but that one shot found the back of the Lady Colonels' net, giving the Valiants the victory 2-1.

Hallowell's goal was the ninth for her on the season, while Samantha Rohn (Levittown, Neshaminy) saved seven shots for Wilkes.

The Lady Colonels will have a chance to bounce back when they host SUNY Cortland next Tuesday, Oct. 26. That game will begin at 7:00 p.m.
