WILKES-BARRE – Wilkes University fell to Lycoming College 4-0 in Middle Atlantic Conference crossover men's soccer action on Wednesday night at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
The Colonels had a good look at the net in the first minute but a
TJ Brandt (Bloomsburg, Central Columbia) shot sailed high. After that, the game moved slowly as neither team was able to gain enough control for a shot. As the game headed for a scoreless halftime, the Warriors' Brad Houseknecht took a pass on a corner and found the bottom right corner of the net to put Lycoming up 1-0 in the 41st minute.
Lycoming wasted little time notching a second goal, as Miguel Medrano, who assisted on the first goal, broke away from the pack and found the back of the net with 5:50 left before half.
The Warriors went on to add two more goals in the second half as Wilkes wasn't able to put anything together offensively to mount a comeback.
Kaleb Smith (Beavertown, Midd-West) went all 90 minutes in the net for Wilkes, saving five shots.
The Colonels will finish up their season this Saturday as they host Misericordia University at the Ralston Athletic Complex. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
