WILKES-BARRE – Nicholas Patricia (Apalachin, NY, Vestal) notched a hat trick as Wilkes University blew past Penn State Hazleton in non-conference men's soccer tonight at the Ralston Athletic Complex under steady rain. The win ran the Colonels win streak to four games.

Patricia got the Colonels (4-7) on the board in the game's fifth minute, scoring unassisted. PSU Hazleton answered 10 minutes later to tie the score at one, but Wilkes responded just 26 seconds later as Patricia notched his second goal of the game off a pass from Justin Szpilka (Sayville, NY, Connetquot).

The Colonels got goals from Michael Turner (Hudson, Coughlin) and Andrew Asare (Accra, Ghana, SOS HGIC), giving them a 4-1 advantage at the break.

Wilkes ran its advantage to eight in the second half as Patricia got his third goal, followed by scores from Ed Zulkoski (Mountaintop, Crestwood), Phillip LaBelle (Bloomsburg, Bloomsburg), another from Asare and one from goalie Kaleb Smith (Beavertown, Midd-West), who had checked back into the game to play the field.

The Colonels go on the road next as they travel to Glenside to face Arcadia on Wednesday. Game time is set for 4:00 p.m.
