Box Score
ST. DAVID'S –
Megan Clementson (Frederick, MD, Tuscarora) and
Lyndsay Ellis (Shavertown, Dallas) each had scores this past Saturday against Eastern, but two goals with less than three minutes to play in the contest lifted the Eagles past Wilkes, 4-2.
There were fireworks early in the game, as 30 seconds after the Eagles scored in the 19th minute, Clementson scored Wilkes' first goal of the game on a pass from
Taryn Hallowell (Belvidere, NJ, Belvidere). Eastern answered soon after, scoring in the 27th minute and taking a 2-1 lead into the halftime break. Wilkes only had two shots in the period, while Eastern fired 10 shots against the Lady Colonel defense.
In the second half Wilkes tied things up when Ellis scored an unassisted goal in the 82nd minute, giving Wilkes less than eight minutes to keep things tied and force overtime. Unfortunately, the Eagles had a late burst, scoring two goals in the last three minutes of the contest and grabbing the victory, 4-2.
Ellis was the main threat for Wilkes, scoring a goal and firing three shots, while Clementson added her second score of the season.
Samantha Rohn (Levittown, Neshaminy) added five saves in the game.
The Lady Colonels will look to turn things around when they host DeSales on Wednesday, Oct. 13. That game will begin at 7:00 p.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
