WILKES-BARRE - The Wilkes University women's soccer team hosted Moravian on Saturday night, and after 90 minutes of soccer grabbed its second victory of the season, winning 1-0.

The Lady Colonels controlled the ball for most of the first period, and late in the half they had a breakaway goal taken away due to an offside penalty. Wilkes had five corners in the half, but was unable to finish them off, and at the break the two teams were still notched at 0-0.

Early in the second period Wilkes finally had its chance to score, and took full advantage, as Jenna Sargent (Stroudsburg, Pocono Mountain East)outran several Moravian defenders and slipped a shot by the goalie, giving Wilkes a 1-0 lead.

For the rest of the period the Lady Colonels played solid defense and kept some pressure on the Greyhounds, holding their lead and winning 1-0.

Sargent's goal was the lone score in the game, while goalie Samantha Rohn (Levittown, Neshaminy) had three saves and the shutout victory.

The Lady Colonels will be back in action when they head to Annville, Pa. to take on Lebanon Valley. That game will begin at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 16.
