MARTIN'S TWO GOALS LIFTS WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER PAST MANHATTANVILLE, 3-0

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Jana Martin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central) scored two goals, her second straight two-goal game, to lift visiting Wilkes University to a 3-0 shutout victory at Manhattanville College Saturday afternoon in Freedom Conference women's soccer action.

Wilkes moves to 6-3-3 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 2-0-2. Manhattanville slips to 2-13 overall and 1-3 in Freedom matches.

Martin gave Wilkes a 1-0 lead just 2:22 into the contest when she put home a Katie Cocchi (Morris Plains, NJ/Parsipany Hills) cross into the box. Amy Davies (Harrisburg/Central Dauphin) notched her first strike of the season adding to the lead at 2-0 with an unassisted tally at the 36:33 mark of the first half. Davies took the ball from the Valiant defense and her shot went of Valiants keeper Brianna Scapperotti and into the back of the net.

Martin then added her second goal of the game at 53:23 when she took an Ashley Graham (New Hampton, NY/Minisink Valley) pass down the right side and beat the keeper to the near side post.

Wilkes held a 16-9 shot advantage while garnering eight corner kicks to Manhattanville's four attempts.

Sam Lindo (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) played 76:49 of the game making six saves to record her fourth shutout of the season. Hayley Kay (Danville, PA/Danville) entered in relief to finish the game in net for the Lady Colonels. Scapperotti made five stops in net for Manhattanville.

Wilkes will return to action Tuesday when they welcome cross-town rival King's College to the Ralston Athletic Complex for a Freedom match scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
