CORTLAND, N.Y. – Caitlin Guerra scored the game-winner 7:44 into overtime as #25 Cortland State posted a hard-fought 1-0 non-conference win over Wilkes University in women's soccer action Tuesday afternoon from Jets Field. With the loss Wilkes falls to 8-4-3 overall, while Cortland improves to 12-4-1 on the year. After the teams went scoreless over the first 90 minutes of play, Guerra took a pass from Kelly Knight from 16 yards out and beat Lady Colonels keeper Sam Lindo (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) to the upper left of the goal to capture the non-league victory for the 25th ranked Red Dragons. Cortland held a 23-2 shot advantage while garnering four corners in the contest. Wilkes was held without a corner for the first time this season. Sam Lindo (Hazlet, NJ/Raritan) made nine saves in net for Wilkes, while Cortland goalie Pam Monnier went untested as all three Wilkes shots were off goal. Wilkes will conclude their Freedom slate Saturday with an important matchup with Eastern University on Senior Day at Ralston Field. Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Print Friendly Version
