TURNER NETS GAME-WINNER IN OT AS WILKES MEN'S SOCCER POSTS 2-1 WIN AT BAPTIST BIBLE
 
CLARKS SUMMIT – Michael Turner (Hudson, PA/Coughlin) scored the game-winner thirty-five seconds into the first overtime as Wilkes University pulled out a 2-1 victory at Baptist Bible in non-conference men's soccer action Thursday afternoon from Defender Field.
 
With the win Wilkes evens its overall mark at 3-3, while BBC falls to 4-2-1 on the year.
 
The teams battle through the first 60 minutes of regulation scoreless before Colby Gehers (Middleburg, PA/Midd-West) put the Colonels up 1-0 after an unassisted goal at the 60:06 mark. Baptist Bible responded to tie the game at 1-1 when Benjamin Clark netted an unassisted goal at 70:46.
 
From there neither team could end play in regulation as the game headed into the extra session tied at 1-1. At the start of overtime, Turner took a pass from Gehers and beat Defender keeper Dillon Bowman who came out of his goal to capture the victory for the Colonels less than one minute into the extra frame
 
Baptist Bible held a slight 19-17 shot advantage, while Wilkes garnered six corner kicks to the Defenders' five. Wilkes goalie Dave Marr (Muncy, PA/Warrior Run) recorded his third victory in net finishing with nine saves. Bowman made seven stops in net for Baptist Bible.
 
Wilkes will return to the field Saturday when they travel to Annville, Pa. to face Commonwealth Conference member Lebanon Valley College. Kick-off is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
