NO. 14 WILKES WRESTLING PICKS UP WINS OVER SCRANTON, HOST HUNTER AT TRI-MATCH
 
NEW YORK, N.Y. – The No. 14 Wilkes wrestling team made it six dual meet wins in a row following victories over the University of Scranton and host Hunter College Wednesday night. The Colonel took an easy 51-0 win over the Royals, then posted a 27-6 victory against the host Hunter College.
 
Wilkes moves to 11-3 overall and 4-1 in Metropolitan competition on the year following the tri-match.
 
Wilkes cruised to the 51-0 win over Scranton using five pins and three major decision on way to the Metropolitan victory. Michael Fleck (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) (125), Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) (133), Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) (165), Dustin Stough (Friendsville, MD/Northern Garrett) (174), Marlon Duque (Boonton, NJ/Boonton) (184), and Michael Shannon (285) all scored falls in the match. At 141-pounds, Ryan Wilson (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township) improved to 16-5 on the season after a 6-1 decision over Kevin Guenther. Major decision wins for the Colonels included John Lynch (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) (149) over Joe Florenzo (12-2), Matthew Ellery (157) over Shawn Flesche (15-4), and David Oberrender (197) over Chris Silakoski (22-8).  
 
In the 27-6 victory over Hunter, White scored his second pin of the day in 2:48 seconds over Matt Cartusciello. Fleck grabbed a 9-5 decision over Kenneth Albert, Mendoza a 2-1 decision over Ryan Gerondal, and Lynch (149) a 6-2 decision over Chris Gogatz. Other decision winners for Wilkes included Shane Everett (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) (157) over Matt Cartusciello (4-2), Stough over Luke Pragdat (4-0), and Seth Gray (Quakertown, PA/Quakertown) over Jordan Donahue (6-3).
 
Wilkes will be idle until Saturday, January 21st when the Colonels travel to Grantham, Pa. for the Messiah Open at 10:00 a.m.
