Steve Finkernagel WILKES WOMEN’S BASKETBALL FALLS TO LYCOMING, 71-59 1/7/2012 5:41:00 PM Box Score WILKES WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO LYCOMING, 71-59 WILKES-BARRE – The Wilkes women's basketball team fell to Lycoming Saturday afternoon at the Marts Center in non-conference play, 71-59. The Lady Colonels drop to 4-8 on the season while the Warriors improve their record to 7-5. The Lady Colonels won the opening tip-off and were the first to score. Lycoming then went on a 14-0 run with 14:43 left to play in the first half. With four minutes left, the Warriors held their largest lead of the afternoon going up 20, 31-11. At the half it was Lycoming 39 and Wilkes 23. In the second half the Warriors never looked back and controlled the rest of the game. With ten minutes left in the game it was Lycoming 57 and Wilkes 40. The Lady Colonels did as much as they could in the final minute to cut the deficit to 12 points, but Lycoming held off Wilkes to garner their seventh win of the season. Off the bench in points, the Lady Colonels held a slight edge, 9-7. Two players for Wilkes scored in the double digits, Whitney Connolly (Liberty, PA/Liberty) with 13 and Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) with 13. Connolly garnered one offensive rebound on the afternoon. Kazmerski chipped in six rebounds and one steal. Amanda Pawlowski (Nanticoke, PA/Holy Redeemer) led the way with a total of eight assists on the afternoon. She also had nine points, two rebounds, and one steal. For Lycoming College Erin Connagan led the way with 15 total points while acquiring eight rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Wilkes is back on the court January 11th as they host Delaware Valley in Freedom Conference play. Tip-off is scheduled at 6:00 p.m. at the Marts Center. Print Friendly Version
