BONILLA'S TWO GOALS BOOSTS WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER OVER MANHATTANVILLE 4-2

EDWARDSVILLE – Priscilla Bonilla (Fairless Hills, PA/The Pennington School)'s two second half goals within three minutes of each other proved to be what the Wilkes women's soccer team needed to beat Manhattanville College 4-2 Saturday at Schmidt Stadium.

With the win, the Lady Colonels improve to 10-4-2 and 4-1-1 in Freedom play while the Valiants fall to 6-9 and 2-4 in the Freedom.

Alicia Roberts (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland) put the Lady Colonels on the scoreboard at the 15:25 mark when she took a pass from Jana Martin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central) down the right side line that was tapped to her from Katy Fissel (Madison, NJ/Madison) at midfield. Brooke Edwards (Levittown, PA/Harry S. Truman) then got into the mix at the 37:39 mark on a dish from Sarah Wasley (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall). Her kick was out of the way of Grace Kraemer's outstretched arms as it hit the right goalpost and spun back into the middle. The rotation of the ball brought it back and into the net to give the Lady Colonels a 2-0 lead going into halftime.

After a Valiant score, Bonilla sliced a brilliantly kicked corner from Lyndsay Ellis (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) into the back of the net to give Wilkes a 3-1 cushion. However, Manhattanville wasn't going down without a fight. An Erika Deetjen goal gave the Valiants momentum and brought it back to within a tally. Bonilla added her second and final goal of the day on a helper from Alicia Roberts (Hatboro, PA/Upper Moreland).

2012 Women's Soccer Seniors
The Lady Colonels tenth victory of the season makes it their first time with ten wins since 2008. Wilkes also secured a playoff berth in the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament. With a season finale win at King's the Lady Colonels will earn the second seed and a home contest in the smifinals on October 31.

Wilkes honored the women's soccer senior class of Ellis, Fissel, Edwards, Martin, Erin Donnelly (Parkesburg, PA/Octorara), and Krista Zawistowski (Syosset, NY/Syosset) before the game for their contributions to the Lady Colonel's soccer program.

Wilkes returns to action when they host SUNY Cortland on 'Pink Night' Tuesday evening at the Ralston Athletic Complex.
