The Colonels battled the No. 22 nationally ranked Royals to a first half tie despite being outshot 12-5. In the second half, the Royals, who lost their first game of the season last week, scored one goal while ripping 27 shots. Rich Loeffler scored the lone Royal goal at the 72:11 mark. Wilkes had a chance to score late with twenty seconds left in the game when Justin Szpilka (Sayville, NY/Connetquot)'s header went just beyond the goal. The Colonel defense played solid and keeper Dave Marr (Muncy, PA/Warrior Run) recorded an impressive 13 saves. Josh Ryan had two stops in net for the Royals. Wilkes will close their 2012 season when they travel to local rival King's College Saturday evening. Print Friendly Version
