WILKES WOMEN'S SOCCER ROLLS TO 3-0 SHUTOUT WIN AGAINST ALBRIGHT IN ECAC QUARTERFINAL

EDWARDSVILLE – The Wilkes women's soccer team rolled to a 3-0 shutout win over Albright behind Jana Martin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central)'s goal and assist in the ECAC quarterfinal match at Schmidt Stadium Thursday night.

With the win, Wilkes improves to 12-4-4 while Albright ends their season at 10-9.

The Lady Colonels got things started when a Martin cross found Erin Donnelly (Parkesburg, PA/Octorara) just 3:49 into the first half. Wilkes held Albright off for the remainder of the period to enter halftime with a 1-0 lead.

In the second half, Lyndsay Ellis (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) took the ball from her left back spot, dribbled around defenders, and found the net at the 52”59 mark. “I'm really happy with how our team has bounced back. We are connecting out there and moving the ball really well,” Ellis said of her goal.

The Lady Colonels found the net again at the 73:39 mark when a Martin shot found the net on a dish from Ashley Graham (New Hampton, NY/Minisink Valley). “I'm really confident in our team. We are playing well and I'm going to miss the camaraderie with the girls once this season is over,” Martin said.

Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) had two saves while Kelly Burian had five saves for the Lions. Wilkes pushed its school-record season shutout total to 12 games this season.

Wilkes will travel to second seeded Swarthmore College Saturday for one of two semifinals at 11:00 am. The winners of the semifinal matches will play in the final on Sunday at a time to be announced. Swarthmore is the host site for both the semifinals and finals.
