With the win, the Colonels improve to 5-4 while the Knights fall to 4-5. After trailing 14-8 to start the game, the Colonels heated up behind the shooting of Jeremy Hartman (Little Egg Harbor, NJ/Pinelands Regional), Chris Shovlin (Kingston, PA/G.A.R.), and the low post presence of Bernard Edmonds (Exeter, PA/Wyoming Area). After an Alec Wizar (Lebanon, PA/Annville Cleona) three-pointer from the deep corner to give the Colonels a 34-29 edge, Shovlin and Edmonds combined to score the remaining eight points and send Wilkes into the break with a 42-31 advantage. In the second frame, Shovlin started the scoring parade by stealing a pass through the paint and taking it coast-to-coast for the layup. After a Knight free throw, Cliff Richardson (Bernville, PA/Tulpehocken) took the ball in transition and found Hartman for his second trey of the day to put Wilkes on top 47-36. On the next Colonel possession Tyler Breznitsky (Freeland, PA/MMI Prep) found the hot hand of Hartman for another make behind the arc. The Knights used early Colonel fouls to reach the double bonus which was how they managed to stick with the hot Wilkes offense. Unable to pull away from the Knights, Wilkes led 77-73 before Edmonds and Shovlin went back-to-back to give Wilkes the lead, 82-75. Cameron Hinkle blocked a Knight shot in transition and was rewarded when Edmonds found him for a jumper of his own. The Colonels went 21-of-29 from the charity stripe and out-rebounded the smaller Knight squad 47-to-32. The Knights were led by Isaac Robinson who scored 22 points and grabbed 14 rebounds while Darryln Robinson had 18 points. Shovlin led the Wilkes offense by dropping 36 points and snagging 12 rebounds. Edmonds posted 19 points and eight boards while Hartman hit a career-high 17 points and grabbed seven rebounds. Wilkes returns to action when they host the Marywood on January 2nd at 8:00 p.m. and the University of Scranton on January 3rd at 8:00 p.m. in the Cross County Challenge held at the Marts Center.
