Wilkes moves to 4-3 overall following the two victories. In the opening win against host Wesleyan, ranked 29th in the country entering Saturday's competition, Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) continued his dominance at 149 pinning Alex Cannon in 3:18. After a major decision at 157 for Wesleyan, Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) earned a 4-0 win over Simon Levin at 165 to push the Colonels lead to 9-4 after three bouts. 174 and 184 went to Wesleyan on decisions before Matt Transue (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) pinned Josh Roometua to give the Colonels the lead back at 15-10 with four bouts remaining. From there, William Fletcher (Ottsville, PA/Palisades) (285), Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) (125), and Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) (133) each cashed in decision wins to seal the match for Wilkes. In the match against RIC, Wilkes took the first six bouts and seven of 10 overall to cruise to a 34-10 victory moving over .500 on the season. Krawchuk earned his second win on the afternoon followed by a pin from Phil Racciato (Pen Argyl, PA/Pen Argyl) and another victory from Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill). Two RIC forfeits and a second win by Mendoza (major decision) gave Wilkes the match. Wilkes will remain idle until the Colonels host the 80th annual Wilkes Open, the “Rose Bowl” of Wrestling on December 28th in the Marts Center.
