Wilkes moves to 19-4 overall and finishes 6-1 in Metropolitan matches. King's slips to 6-16 overall. At 125, Michael Fleck (Easton, PA/Wilson Area) moved just three wins from tying the single season school record recording his 33rd victory with a technical fall over Aaron Perez. Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) upped the Wilkes advantage to 9-0 with a 19-6 major decision over Travis Boardman at 133. Ryan Wilson (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township) continued the Wilkes shutout at 141 pinning Eric Seals in 4:40. King's answered at 149 when Chris Mazzocchi scored a takedown in the extra frame for a hard-fought 3-1 decision over John Lynch (Hellertown, PA/Saucon Valley) cutting the Wilkes lead to 15-3. After a Matt Ellery (Somerset, NJ/Middlesex) win by forfeit at 157, Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) scored an 11-2 major decision over Ahmed Burton at 165 as Wilkes increased its lead to 25-3. At 174, Dustin Stough (Friendsville, MD/Northern Garrett) used riding time to post a 2-1 decision over Shane Stark in a tight bout throughout. Dave Oberrender (Freeland, PA/Hazleton) finished things off for Wilkes at 197 with a 13-3 decision over Cemah Tudae-Torboh. Prior to the match six senior members of the Colonel squad were honored for all their hard work and dedication to the Wilkes wrestling program. Senior members included: Anthony Dattolo (Succasunna, NJ/Roxbury) (149), Ben Marich (Kempton, PA/Northwestern Lehigh) (165), Shane Everett (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) (157), Matt Ellery (Somerset, NJ/Middlesex) (157), Ryan Wilson (Manasquan, NJ/Wall Township) (141), and Buddy Gouger (Saylorsburg, PA/Pleasant Valley) (184). The Colonels will be idle until the Metropolitan Championships next Sunday, February 26th held at Elizabethtown College.
