TURNER'S GOAL LIFTS WILKES MEN'S SOCCER OVER DELAWARE VALLEY 1-0

EDWARDSVILLE – Michael Turner (Hudson, PA/Coughlin)'s goal at the 85:58 mark was all Wilkes needed to win their Freedom Conference opener against the Aggies 1-0 Saturday night at Schmidt Stadium.

With the win the Colonels improve to 5-4 and 1-0 in the Freedom while Del Val drops to 5-2-1 and 0-1 in Freedom play.

Through a hard-fought physical game, the Colonels caught their big break on a corner kick. The right footed Joe Brennan (Oakdale, CT/Montville)'s kick from the lower corner tailed to the left side of the field where Eddie Metzger (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) headed the ball to the middle of the box as Michael Turner (Hudson, PA/Coughlin) sent the ball home in net.

Chase Clement had nine stops in goal for the Aggie while Dave Marr (Muncy, PA/Warrior Run) recorded seven saves for the Colonels.

Wilkes returns to play Wednesday when the Colonels travel to Hoboken, NJ to face Stevens Institute of Technology at 5:00 p.m.
