In the first half, the Lady Colonels got things started fifteen minutes into the game when Jana Martin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central) took a pass from Lyndsay Ellis (Shavertown, PA/Dallas) for the first goal of the game. Later at the thirty-one minute mark, Katy Fissel (Madison, NJ/Madison) placed the ball in net off a perfect pass from Megan Binder (North Babylon, NY/North Babylon ) as Wilkes led 2-0 at the break. The University of Scranton women's soccer team, who won two consecutive Landmark Championships as well as playing in two consecutive NCAA tournaments, took 13 shots of which five were on goal. Wilkes had twelve shots where four were on goal. Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) stood out defensively in the keeper position. The freshmen made some incredible stops just in front of the dish. The Lady Colonels return to the pitch Saturday with a non-conference road test at Baptist Bible.
