LADY COLONELS FALL AT JUNIATA 78-43

HUNTINGDON, PA – The Wilkes University women's basketball team lost at Juniata College 78-43 Wednesday evening in a non-conference matchup.

Following the loss, the Lady Colonels fall to 7-4 while the Eagles improve to 9-3.

Elena Stambone (Jessup, PA/Valley View) started the game with a layup just four seconds into the first period. After the opening layup, the Eagles tallied nine straight points before Angela

Palmerio hit a jumper at the 17-minute mark. Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) and Ginny Edwards (Warrington, PA/Central Bucks South) went back-to-back to bring the score to 15-8 before the Eagles went on a 10-0 run. Jana Martin (Lititz, PA/Manheim Central) ended the streak by hitting a jumper of her own. Megan Kazmerski (Kingston, PA/Holy Redeemer) scored four straight points before a Stambone layup iced the Lady Colonel scoring in the first period.

In the second half, Chelsea Brown (Garnet Valley, PA/Garnet Valley) started the scoring for the Lady Colonels. Stambone iced four straight free throws before giving way to Kazmerski for a layup to bring the score to 48-27. Palmerio and Kate Thomas (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Blue Mountain) hit their free throws down the stretch while Brianna Zazzaro (Mount Olive, NJ/Mount Olive) contributed to the Wilkes scoring column.

 The Eagles were led by Jordan Speck's 15 point effort while Natalie Hager recorded ten points and nine boards.

Wilkes was led by Kazmerski's 11 points and now sits one point shy of the 1,000 point career mark. Stambone contributed ten points and led all Colonels with seven boards.

The Lady Colonels return to action January 7th when they host Penn State Harrisburg.
