Colonels Notebook
• The Colonels, ranked No. 24, return to the mat as the Colonels travel to Collegeville, Pa. to participate in the North/South Duals at Ursinus College.
 
• WU is coming off a strong performance at the 80th annual Wilkes Open on December 28th. Eight Colonels claimed top six finishes including a 149-pound title from Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh).
 
• WU will face four schools on Saturday, going up against No. 22 Messiah at 9:30 a.m., USMMA at 11:30 a.m., No. 21 York at 1:30 p.m., and DII West Chester at 3:30 p.m.
 
• The Colonels have 20 wrestlers who have notched at least five wins this season as well as 18 wrestlers with .500 or better marks.
 
• Junior Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) (15-4) is ranked 9th at 133-pounds according to the latest NWCA Individual rankings, while Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) (14-2) is ranked 8th at 149-pounds. In the latest d3wrestle.com poll, Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) (16-5)  is listed as a contender, while junior Mike Shannon (Montvale, NJ/Northern Valley Regional) (9-7) garnered an honorable mention spot.
 
• The Colonels captured second place in the Monarch Invitational in the season opener as two wrestlers earned individual championships (125- Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) and 133- Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill)). 
 
• Wilkes went 1-3 at the John Reese Duals earlier this year earning a 28-6 win over then No. 18 Johns Hopkins. The Colonels posted two wins at the Wesleyan tri-match beating Rhode Island College 34-10 and the host No. 29 Wesleyan 24-16.
 
• Earlier this season, Krawchuk was named d3wrestle.com/WWSport.com “Wrestler of the Week” after going 3-0 at the John Reese Duals with all three victories coming against ranked opponents. He opened the day with a pin over tenth ranked Craig Montgomery of Centenary and followed with a pair of decision wins over Troy Sterling 4-2 (#5 at 157) and fifth ranked Henry Stauber of Johns Hopkins 8-3.
