• Wilkes makes its much anticipated home match debut against Division II power East Stroudsburg tonight at the Marts Center.
 
• The Colonels, ranked No. 20, posted a perfect 4-0 mark in the North/South Duals at Ursinus College on Saturday garnering wins over two ranked opponents in No. 22 Messiah (33-10) and No. 21 York College (31-3).
 
• Two WU wrestlers beat ranked opponents as Jeff Peterson (Edison, NJ/Edison) (141) and Mark Hartenstone (149) collected upset victories.
 
• WU had a strong performance at the 80th annual Wilkes Open on December 28th. Eight Colonels claimed top six finishes including a149-pound title from Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh).
 
• The Colonels have 22 wrestlers who have notched at least five wins this season as well as 20 wrestlers with .500 or better marks.
 
• Junior Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) (19-4) is ranked 9th at 133-pounds according to the latest NWCA Individual rankings, while Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) (16-2) is ranked 8th at 149-pounds. Michael Shannon (10-7) also garnered a spot on the Honorable Mention list on the latest d3wrestle.com rankings.
 
• The Colonels captured second place in the Monarch Invitational in the season opener as two wrestlers earned individual championships (125-Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) and 133-Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill)).
 
• Wilkes went 1-3 at the John Reese Duals earlier this year earning a 28-6 win over then No. 18 Johns Hopkins. The Colonels posted two wins at the Wesleyan tri-match beating Rhode Island College 34-10 and the host No. 29 Wesleyan 24-16.
 
• Earlier this season, Krawchuk was named d3wrestle.com/WWSport.com “Wrestler of the Week” after going 3-0 at the John Reese Duals with all three victories coming against ranked opponents. He opened the day with a pin over tenth ranked Craig Montgomery of Centenary and followed with a pair of decision wins over Troy Sterling 4-2 (#5 at 157) and fifth ranked Henry Stauber of Johns Hopkins 8-3.
