Wilkes slips to 5-3-2 overall while Scranton improves to 8-2 on the year. Erin Casey put the Royals up 1-0 with an unassisted goal off a direct kick from 28-yards out with 36:05 on the first half clock. Gianna Vitolo added the insurance tally at the 68:40 mark of the second half when her header found the back of the net. Scranton outshot Wilkes 16-6, while the Lady Royals garnered eight corner kicks to Wilkes' three attempts. Kristy Colangelo (Staten Island, NY/St. Joseph by the Sea) suffered the loss in net for Wilkes making three saves in the first half. Kate Mahoney (Kingston, NH/Central Catholic) entered in relief of Colangelo finishing with four saves in the final 45 minutes. Kelsey McAnelly made two saves for Scranton recording the win. Wilkes opens Freedom Conference play Saturday on Homecoming when the Lady Colonels hosts Eastern University at 11:00 a.m. at the Ralston Athletic Complex. The two teams played three times last year with the final game coming in the Freedom semifinals at Wilkes (Eastern won 5-4 in a shootout). Print Friendly Version
