The Colonels are ranked in the top ten nationally for the first time under head coach Jon Laudenslager. • Wilkes hosts its second of two quad matches welcoming McDaniel, Lycoming, and Trinity College to the Marts Center with wrestling set to begin at 11:00 a.m. • The Colonels, ranked No. 7, posted three wins in their home quad last Saturday. Wilkes began the day cruising by Mount Saint Vincent 59-0 before a 45-0 win over RIT and 35-7 victory against Washington and Jefferson. • The Colonels have 27 wrestlers who have notched at least five wins this season as well as 21 wrestlers with .500 or better marks. • Three Wilkes wrestles are ranked nationally in the latest NWCA individual rankings. At 133, junior Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) (25-4) is tabbed seventh, while redshirt sophomore Mark Hartenstine (Easton, PA/Easton) (13-1) is ranked third at 149-pounds and junior Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) (19-2) was selected fifth at 157 after moving up a class midway through this season. • Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) (23-8) was selected as a contender in the latest d3wrestle. com rankings while Matt Transue (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) (17-8) and Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) (18-7) were tabbed honorable mentions at 197 and 165 respectively to round out the Colonels with individual honors. • WU had a strong performance at the 80th annual Wilkes Open on December 28th.
