Live Video Colonels Notebook • Wilkes enters tonight's dual match looking for its 19th straight win after posting 18 straight victories dating back to November 10th. The 19 straight victories would break the school record set during the 1979-80 season where the Colonels finished 19-2 overall, losing to Lehigh and Oregon State. • The Colonels, ranked No. 7, posted a 19-12 win at No. 13 Ithaca College last Friday claiming six of the ten bouts against the Bombers. • The Colonels have 27 wrestlers who have notched at least five wins this season as well as 21 wrestlers with .500 or better marks. • Three Wilkes wrestles are ranked nationally in the latest NWCA individual rankings. At 133, junior Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) (27-5) is tabbed fifth, while redshirt sophomore Mark Hartenstine (Easton, PA/Easton) (17-1) is ranked second at 149-pounds and junior Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) (22-2) was selected fourth at 157 after moving up a class midway through this season. • Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) (26-9) was selected as an honorable mention in the latest d3wrestle.com rankings while Matt Transue (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) (20-8) and Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) (22-7) were also tabbed honorable mentions at 197 and 165 respectively to round out the Colonels with individual honors. • Wilkes posted three wins in their home finale quad two weeks ago. Wilkes began the day cruising by McDaniel 30-12 before a 36-6 win over Trinity and 43-3 victory against Lycoming. • The Colonels have owned their cross-town rivals posting a win or tie in the last eight meetings with King's. Wilkes secured a 32-14 win last season prior to tying King's 22-22 in the 2010-11 campaign. Wilkes has not lost to the Monarchs since the 2003-04 season (14-25). Print Friendly Version
