The victory breaks a 33 year-old school record as Wilkes finishes dual match play with 19 straight victories. The 19 straight matches breaks the previous school record of 18 consecutive wins coming during the 1979-80 season where the Colonels finished 19-2 with losses to Oregon State and Lehigh. King's falls to 6-11 overall on the year. Wilkes opened with a 12-0 lead after Guesseppe Rea (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) (125) and Myzar Mendoza (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) (133) picked up forfeit wins. Jeff Peterson (Edison, NJ/Edison) continued the extra-point momentum grabbing a 8-6 lead in the third period before pinning DeMarquis Holley in 6:45 at 141-pounds as the Colonels led 18-0 after three bouts. The Colonel advantage grew to 20-0 when No. 2 Mark Hartenstine (Easton, PA/Easton) made quick work of Martin Dartoe earning a pin in 1:32. Hartenstine finishes his dual campaign with an 18-1 mark. The Wilkes lead continued to grow up 29-0 after five bouts when No. 4 Kris Krawchuk (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) dominated his match against Nathaniel Seals posting a 16-0 technical fall midway through the third period. Krawchuk moves to 23-2 at 157 on the year. King's recorded its first points of the match when Tommy Desir posted a hard-fought 3-1 decision over Nathan White (Ellicott City, MD/River Hill) at 165 cutting the Wilkes lead to 29-3. Dustin Stough (Friendsville, MD/Northern Garrett) earned a 5-0 decision over Anthony Clifford at 174 upping Wilkes lead to 32-3. After a King's decision at 184, Matt Transue (Stroudsburg, PA/Stroudsburg) led 13-3 after two periods before settling for a major decision win over Cemah Tudae-Torboh 17-5 at 197-pounds. King's closed with a 8-3 decision win at 285.
