WILKES MEN'S SOCCER NETS FIVE GOALS IN SEASON OPENING WIN
LA PLUME, PA -- On the road at Keystone College the Colonels (1-0) opened up a 3-1 halftime lead on their way to a 5-1 victory against the Giants.
Senior Michael Turner (Hudson, PA/Coughlin) got the scoring started in the 8th minute off a one-touch finish to the near post served in by Nicholas Patricia (Apalachin, NY/Vestal). Four minutes later sophomore forward Ian Moyer (York, PA/Eastern York) tallied his first goal of the season off of a feed by sophomore Justin Weaver (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty).
Keystone cut the deficit to one just over a minute later when Julio Pertuz scored off of a restart goal. Wilkes did not put their heads down as they quickly regained a two-goal lead in the 14th minute when Geoffrey Arentz (Stevens, PA/Lancaster Catholic ) served a beautiful ball to the far post that Turner headed in for his second goal of the match.
Sophomore Eddie Metzger (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) opened the second half scoring with a goal in the 62nd minute and Abdullah Albannay (Kuwait City, Kuwait/Abdullah Jaber) finished the Colonels scoring with a long range shot in the 74th minute.
Senior Dave Marr (Muncy, PA/Warrior Run) made four saves earning his first victory of the 2013 season.
The Colonels make their 2013 home debut Wednesday, September 4 at 7:00 p.m. vs. Muhlenberg College.
