The Lady Colonels dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision to Alvernia University, before losing 3-0 in straight sets to Marywood University. Wilkes moves to 1-3 overall following the two day event. Alvernia grabbed the first two sets (25-18, 25-23) before Wilkes responded winning the third (26-24) and fourth (25-11) sets to force a deciding fifth set. Alvernia would clinch the match with a 15-13 win in the fifth set. Casey Bohan (Harding/Wyoming Area) continued to lead the way offensive in the match against Alvernia finishing with 14 kills and three total blocks. Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) led the Lady Colonels passing game with 39 assists, while Marissa Mallory (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) chipped in with a team-high 15 digs. Marywood took the second match of the day over Wilkes by scores of 25-19, 25-19, and 25-12. Bohan finished with seven kills, while Paige Trusty (Durham, CT/Coginchaug) and Alisha Rupp (Shamokin, PA/Shamokin) combined for eight kills. Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) led the passing game with 20 assists. Wilkes returns to the court Tuesday when the Lady Colonels travel to Scranton, Pa. for a rematch with Marywood at 7:00 p.m. Print Friendly Version
