WILKES MEN'S AND WOMEN'S SWIMMING DEBUTS AT WIDENER RELAY CARNIVAL
 
CHESTER, PA – The Wilkes University men's and women's swimming teams made their 2014-15 season debut Saturday competing in the Widener University Relay Carnival.
 
The event included host Widener ,Stevenson University and Rowan University and showcased multiple relays.
 
For the Wilkes men, the relay squad of Will Hauze (Wapwallopen, PA/Holy Redeemer), Mike Henne, Thurman Fogleman (York, PA/William Penn) and Chris Bright finished fourth in the 400-yard medley relay and fifth in the 300-yard breaststroke relay.
 
Fogleman, Austin Paisley (Sugarloaf, PA/Hazleton Area), Henne and Hauze claimed fifth in the 800-yard freestyle relay while Paisley, Fogleman, Bright and Greg O'Malley (Binghamton, NY/Windsor) finished sixth in the 200-yard medley relay.
 
For the Wilkes women, the relay team of Sarah Cole (Hanover Twp., PA/Wyoming Seminary), Beth Chmil, Sarah Brozena (Larksville, PA/Wyoming Valley West) and Cassie Morey took home third at the 200-yard medley relay. Cole, Brozena, Abby Nemeth (Whitehall, PA/Whitehall) and Megan Evers (Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) finished third in the 800-yard freestyle relay.
 
Wilkes finished fourth and fifth in the 300 backstroke relay as Cole, Nemeth and Lauren Merli (Jessup, PA/Valley View) finished fourth while Kiersten Torre (Bohemia, NY/Connetquot), Becky Gordon and Dian McKinney (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) finished fifth.
 
The team of Evers, Karly Cesare (Palmerton, PA/Palmerton) and Chmil notched third place in the 300-yard breaststroke relay.
 
Both teams return to the pool next Saturday traveling to Scranton, Pa, for a meet with Marywood University at 1:00 p.m.
