WILKES CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS COMPETE AT BLOOMSBURG INVITATIONAL
 
BLOOMSBURG, PA – The Wilkes University men's and women's cross country teams competed in the Bloomsburg Invitational Saturday afternoon as the Colonel men finished third in the 8k race while the Lady Colonels claimed third place in the women's 6k race.
 
The Colonel men finished third behind host Bloomsburg while Mansfield University earned the top spot in the three team race. Wilkes totaled 62 points in the race.
 
Tyler Sutton (Wyalusing, PA/Wyalusing Valley) led the list of runners for Wilkes finishing ninth with a time of 29:32. Jordan Linley came in next for Wilkes at 29:38 for tenth place. Martin Tolbert (York, PA/William Penn) recorded his best time this year finishing in 13th at 29:56 while Dan Lykens finished 14th crossing the line at 30:08.  Forest Hawkins (Ashley, PA/Hanover) came in at 30:16 (16th) and Tyler Layton (Endicott, NY/Main Endwell) finished at 30:25 (17th). Brian McKenna (Hillsdale, NJ/Pascack Valley) (31:21/20th), Evan Witmer (Sunbury, PA/Shikellamy) (34:51/24th), Kevin Ryan (36:22/25th) and Liam Cassidy (Bethlehem, PA/Notre Dame Green Pond) (37:36/26th) rounded out the Colonel runners.
 
The Wilkes women finished third in the four team race totaling 88 points. Host Bloomsburg claimed first with 17 total points while Mansfield followed in second with 40 team points.
 
Rachel Quinn (Goshen, NY/Goshen) was the top Lady Colonel finisher finishing at 26:35 for 16th place. Christine Klingel (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) came in at 26:57 for 19th place while Tracey Hilker (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) crossed the line at 27:56 for 26th. Alexis Nicholson (Allentown, PA/Allentown Central Catholic) (28:50/30th), Moriah Teed (Newark Valley, NY/Newark Valley) (29:17/31st), Sarah Fillman (Limerick, PA/Spring Ford) (30:04/32nd), Michelle Brenneman (Schuylkill Haven, PA/Schuylkill Haven) (31:17/34th), Christie O'Brien (Goshen, NY/Goshen) (32:38/35th), Stacey Kandrac (32:40/36th), Cheyenne Barnes (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) (34:37/38th), Kayla Creedon (Honesdale, PA/Riverside) (35:37/39th), Kaitlyn Sitch (Weatherly, PA/MMI Prep) (37:03/40th) and Abbey Sauerwine (Slatington, PA/Northern Lehigh) (37:07/41st) rounded out the Wilkes runners.
 
Both squads return to the course next Saturday running in the Gettysburg Invitational at 11:00 a.m.
