COLONELS MEN'S SOCCER LOSE HOME FINALE 2-0 AGAINST MANHATTANVILLE

EDWARDSVILLE, PA – The Colonels allowed a goal in each half and were stymied on numerous offensive chances as they fell to Manhattanville on Saturday afternoon.

Yani Quinteros scored off a Simon Espinosa cross in the 3rd minute of play to put the Valiants up 1-0.  The Colonels offense took over most of the play for the remaining 42 minutes of the half.  The Colonels peppered Valiants goalkeeper Willie Silber with shot after but he stood strong and made six saves.  Eddie Metzger (Carlisle, PA/Carlisle) headed a corner kick destined for the side panel but it was cleared off the line by a Valiants defender.

Rob Hammerie doubled the lead for the Valiants in the 53rd minute when he hit a shot inside the right post.  The Colonels outshot the Valiants 12-11 and led in the corner kick department 8-5, however they came up empty on the score sheet.

Wilkes honored nine Seniors prior to the match.  Hamad Alkandari (Kuwait City, Kuwait/Abdullah Jaber), Tyler Young (Chambersburg, PA/Chambersburg), Ryan Joyce (Warminster, PA/Archbishop Wood), Geoffrey Arentz (Stevens, PA/Lancaster Catholic ), Trevor Lear (Schnecksville, PA/Northwestern Lehigh), Kyle Romm (Hampstead, MD/North Carroll), Patrick Loube (Boyertown, PA/Boyertown), Sebastian Moreno (Bushkill, PA/East Stroudsburg North) and Eric McAnena (Horsham, PA/Abington) were all honored for their four years playing for the Navy and Gold.
