WILKES VOLLEYBALL SPLITS PAIR OF MATCHES AT ETOWN TRI-MATCH
 
ELIZABETHTOWN, PA – The Wilkes University volleyball team prepped for the upcoming Freedom Conference Tournament splitting a pair of matches at the Elizabethtown College tri-match on Saturday afternoon.
 
Wilkes recorded a 3-1 win over Lycoming College in its first match of the day before dropping a 3-0 decision to the host Blue Jays in the nightcap.
 
Wilkes claimed the four-set win over Lycoming by scores of 27-29, 25-21, 25-21 and 25-19. Four Lady Colonels reached double figures in kills led by Danica Benson (Allentown, PA/Emmaus)'s 12 while Marissa Mallory (Pine Bush, NY/Pine Bush) and Ally Paskas (Rutherford, NJ/Rutherford) both added 11 kills and Ellen Mook (Meadville, PA/Meadville) ten. Mallory also added a team-high 21 digs while setter Megan Powers (Pottsville, PA/Pottsville) was just three assists shy of her school record finishing with 51 assists in the victory.
 
Elizabethtown then took the second match of the day over Wilkes by scores of 25-18, 25-14 and 25-20. Benson again led the team with seven kills. Paskas contributed six kills and nine digs while Erin Nothstein (Mertztown/Brandywine Heights) finished with a team-best 11 digs from the backline. Powers chipped in with 22 assists on 29 Wilkes' kills.
 
Wilkes, the No. 4 seed in next week's Freedom Conference Tournament, will travel to top-seeded Eastern University Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. for a semifinal match.
