Steve Finkernagel WILKES WOMEN’S XC FINISH 12TH AT MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS 11/1/2014 4:31:00 PM (Team Results)WILKES WOMEN'S XC FINISH 12TH AT MAC CHAMPIONSHIPS LEBANON, PA – The Wilkes University women's cross country team finished in 12th place at the Middle Atlantic Conference Championships on Saturday at the Union Canal Tunnel Park in Lebanon. Wilkes finished with 301 total team points in the 6k event of 141 runners. Rachel Quinn (Goshen, NY/Goshen) led the Lady Colonel finishers with a time of 25:48 for 46th place. Regan Murphy (Plainfield, PA/Pen Argyl) followed with a time of 26:36 for 56th place while Tracey Hilker (Hummelstown, PA/Lower Dauphin) (26:50) and Christine Klingel (Kunkletown, PA/Pleasant Valley) (27:27) finished 58th and 66th respectively for Wilkes. Misericordia University claimed its first-ever MAC title with 53 team points. Eastern's senior Josey Rupert became the first Eagle, on either the men's or women's teams, to win the individual title. Misericordia had four runners finish in the top-20 to earn All-MAC honors. The Cougars had three runners finish in the top-10 to earn 53 points. DeSales finished runner-up with 65 points with four runners finishing in the top-20, including third and eight place. Messiah took third with 85 points. The Falcons had four runners finish in the top-20 as well.Rupert finished the race in a time of 22:39.55 to beat the runner-up, Lebanon Valley's junior Kelsey Patrick, by 10 seconds. Patrick, who finished the race in a time of 22:49.58, had previously won the 2012 and 2013 MAC Women's Cross Country Individual Titles. Rupert earned this year's 2014 MAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year award.DeSales' freshman Veronica Wheeler took third-place with a time of 22:54.83. Wheeler earned the 2014 MAC Women's Cross Country Rookie of the Year award. The Bulldogs' junior Jessica Curray finished eighth in a time of 23:24.58.The Cougars' junior Bianca Bolton finished in fourth as the top Misericoria runner in a time of 23:05.76.
